Another "pebble in a pond" post. To think on what someone in the future might want to know about lives in the now, inspired by the desire in the now to know about the then. Deep,

Loved this modern ancestral tale. Trails and Trips and Time Travel are part of our role as Ancestral Guardians. Not just those ancestral trails from 200 years ago, but right now, with a view to the future and our descendants!

What a wonderful way to document your trip for the grands. Writing about your memories of your grandma and grandpa brought some sweet memories back to me of my Mayo and Bampie, and how I miss them. Have a great trip!

Totally awesome reading today. Sharing about your trip will also give your grands, ggrands, etc. a sense of who ‘Gramma’ and ‘Grampa’ are/were. A good example for me and many others I’m sure.

I am always inspired by ideas from other genealogists including this one! It’s the reason why communities such as this are so important. My hubby and I take a road trip every year and I do document in photos and written word but I’ve not thought about the value of these to future generations. Thank you for reminding me!

My grandparents made road trips almost yearly. They always brought back a small gift, I remember in particular a little ceramic, jointed Doll in Mexican dress. There are photos of them in front of a cactus, at Niagara Falls, and one in particular of my sister and cousin (who went with them) in front of a grave marker that continues to puzzle me 50 years later. These grandparents rarely took photos when at home so I know these trips meant something to them. Like you, I want to share the things that are important to me with my grandchildren and descendants. I am working on writing "Living Legacy" articles about myself and my interactions with life. The biggest impetus is how much I know I would have wanted to have that type of tangible sharing from my ancestors.

Karla, the memories we have of our grandparents create such a unique connection to our family history. Their personalities are, at least in part, rooted in their memories of their own grandparents. Now we create those same kinds of memories with our grandchildren. It’s kind of amazing when we stop to take it all in.
