The panel: Jane Chapman, Anne Wendel, Lynda Heines, Julie Dove Lisa Maguire & Robin Stewart
Our Latest Episode:
In this episode of GenClub, we sit down with Lauren Maguire, the voice behind The Heirloom Detective and Lulu Mackenzie of the Archives, for a conversation about what it means to pursue family history with both precision and heart. A former practicing attorney turned genealogical storyteller, Lauren brings a detective's rigor to the records and a writer's sensibility to the page — especially when it comes to restoring the untold stories of women in history. The panel explores how a simple conversation in Lauren's kitchen became the seed of a story — a reminder that the archive isn't only something you find, but something you make through attention, voice, and care.

Coming soon at the GenStack Coterie:
Stewardship Matters is coming soon. It’s for family historians who have done the research and now feel the pull to do something more with it.
What happens when we realize our family history is not just ours to keep, but ours to steward?
If we do not write these stories, source them well, publish them, and make them findable, will they outlast us?
Stewardship Matters explores how we move from private research to enduring public contribution.
Making the ephemeral enduring.

Storyteller Tuesdays
The GenStack Ancestral Women 2026
Her Story Matters
What are Storyteller Tuesdays? Each week, anyone in the family historian community here on Substack is invited to take the challenge. This month in honor of Women’s History month, we tell the stories of the women in our family history.
The Ancestral Women 2026 - Storyteller Tuesday Challenge is an invitation to write about your ancestral women. Using storytelling prompts designed to move beyond names and dates and toward lived experience, the following authors have taken the challenge and have been entered to be included in the GenStack Ancestral Women ebook, scheduled for publication in April.
These authors have shown up for the women in their family trees, creating an opportunity for their stories to become part of the human record.
The Ancestral Women 2026 Challenge for the Month of March, Women’s History Month has concluded.
I want to extend my gratitude to the following authors who participated in the Ancestral Women Challenge. Women’s stories in family history are often overlooked. They changed that with 13 stories that mean so much to the genealogy world. Watch for the Ancestral Women 2026 ebook to be published and findable on the Internet Archive on May 1, 2026.
