How do we feel about dramatic license for some of the unknown details to an otherwise true story?

I say take it in the direction that works best for you. Personally, I add a footnote with information about whether or not what I’ve written can be traced back to direct evidence. And Shell — I’m so excited to see what you have in store for us!

Ahh I want to do this but problem is my sister & I have faulty memories about this relative’s story. Plus I’m out of town so can’t search my old photos. Roadblocks hmm 🤔

I would say that faulty memory gives you cover to be creative. Tell the story as you remember it. Add embellishments, as needed, to bring your story to life. I love your writing style. Go for it!
