Brick Buster Challenge
Welcome to another Genealogy Matters Challenge!
Each week, Genealogy Matters publishes a challenge for anyone interested in family history called Storyteller Tuesday Challenge.
Prompt:
BRICK BUSTER - Tell a story about the time you broke through a brick wall in your research. Include the name and details about the ancestor involved.
Every family historian knows the feeling: the brick wall. The place where the trail goes cold, records vanish, and an ancestor seems to slip beyond reach. We stare at gaps, build timelines, test theories—waiting for something to click. And then, sometimes, it does.
This challenge invites you to relive one of your breakthrough moments. Think back to a time when persistence, creativity, or pure serendipity helped you push past a dead end in your research. Who was the ancestor? What was the barrier? And how did you finally get through?
Tell the story not just of the find, but of the journey—what you learned, how it changed your understanding, and what made that moment so memorable. Brick walls are part of every genealogist’s path, but so are the victories. This is a chance to celebrate one of yours.
Genealogy Matters Storyteller Tuesday Challenge: BRICK BUSTER
Due by June 24, 2025
While I haven't busted any brick walls yet, I'm curious about methods used by others.
