Letters from LaBelle
About Letters from LaBelle
In 2021 I was gifted with an unexpected treasure trove of family memorabilia in the form of nine shoeboxes worth of hand-written letters penned by my great-grandmother between 1961-1975. When I added this gift to the letters I had discovered a few years earlier when my mother had passed away, I found that had over 885 weekly family letters written by my great-grandmother.
This site is setup to record the insights, discoveries, and even a few personal memories that I am gleaming in the process of reading through her letters in chronological order.
My great-grandmother was May Emma Northcutt Hinkson (1880-1975). She grew up in Knox City, MO and spent most of her adult life living in the neighboring farming community of LaBelle, MO. ~ Helene McClanahan

Endgame Genealogy
Ellen Kowitt
While genealogy research can be both a rewarding journey and a quest toward specific destinations, we must consider its ultimate legacy. Some researchers find joy in the process itself—the discoveries, connections, and shared experiences with fellow enthusiasts. Others pursue concrete objectives: uncovering family mysteries, connecting with living relatives, documenting lineages, or creating published works. Yet a crucial question remains: what becomes of our meticulously gathered research when we either shift focus or reach life's end? Traditional estate planning rarely addresses the preservation of genealogical work—those precious digital archives, carefully constructed family trees, historical photographs, and works-in-progress that represent years of dedication. This presentation explores how to safeguard your genealogical legacy, offering practical guidance for organizing your research materials and ensuring your valuable contributions remain accessible to future generations.
So, if you’re a member of , or the GenStack Coterie, tune in during RootsTech…More on that later.
